The Cherokee County Legacy Foundation recently hosted an awards dinner for 27 organizations who were awarded grants for 2012 totaling $88,500.
The distribution of funds is as follows: the city of Cherokee with $32,000, the city of Marcus with almost $15,000, the city of Aurelia with over $13,000, the city of Quimby with two grants approved for $9,000, the ciy of Larrabee with $8,000, the Meriden and Cleghorn with over $7,000 and the city of Washta with $4,000.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
